Woah, woah!
I just watched "Flushed Away," so you'll have to pardon me if I go all Tom Jonesy on you for a minute. Highly recommended if you like that kind of thing. I do. Er, the "Flushed Away" part, not the Tom Jones part. Not that he isn't perfect in some situations. Or rather, his music is. Oh just go rent the movie already.
No, really. Go.
What are you doing still reading this? Get in the car. Now.

A better perspective
I've been asked to indicate Izzy's enormity a bit better. I'll work on a better shot, but how about this? Please note that in a not-very-stretched out state he's almost the length of my leg. Granted, I'm not a very tall person, but still. Human leg. Izzy. Not small.
Note: he's mostly Maine Coon cat. They're supposed to be big, though he is on a diet currently. Yes, he's polydactl (he looks like he has opposable thumbs). Yes, he plays fetch. No, he is a lap cat. Can't get them all right.
Just the two of them

My beloved Howie
Meet Howie. He passed away February 9, 2007. He was fourteen years old. He had had a rough year but he fought with the stubbornness only he was capable of. He would meet me at the door when I came home from work. He would wake me up in the morning if his breakfast was late by putting his nose to mine and letting his whiskers tickle my cheeks. If that didn't work he would gently pat my cheek with his paw. This photo fully captures his essence which I call, "Howieness". Also known as, "I don't want to have my photo taken thank you very much." But he was loving and lovable and sweet and wonderful when he wanted to be. He would fall asleep with me every night curled up in the crook of my arm. He would jump into my lap and knead my stomach whenever I sat down on the sofa. He was a great mouser. He loved marshmallows. He loved chicken. He loved steak. He loved playing in the stream of water coming out of the bathroom sink. And I miss him.

A new beginning
My first blog. Woo hoo!
I wonder if there is any original "first blog post" witticism that hasn't already been said.
I doubt it.
